Chris Jericho makes surprise AEW return after months of speculation

Jericho returns to AEW on Dynamite in Winnipeg

Chris Jericho returned to All Elite Wrestling programming on Wednesday night's Dynamite in Winnipeg, Canada. His entrance music played before a contract signing between Maxwell Jacob Friedman and Kenny Omega. Jericho addressed the crowd with "Winnipeg … AEW … I’m home" before exiting the ring.

Jericho had been absent from AEW television for nearly a year. He last appeared with the Learning Tree faction, which disbanded after he dropped the Ring of Honor World Heavyweight Championship to Bandido at last year's AEW Dynasty pay-per-view. The Winnipeg native joined AEW in January 2019 and competed in its inaugural Double or Nothing event.

Jericho became AEW's first world champion and later held the FTW Championship. He captured the ROH world title twice during his time in the promotion.

Jericho made no challenges or announcements during his appearance. Speculation had swirled about a possible WWE return, including at the Royal Rumble, but he reappeared in AEW instead.
